How To Run AI Assisted X-Ray Test Mode on the Baggage Scanner for the Daily Verification

Modified on Mon, Mar 16 at 5:06 PM

The Athena AI Assisted  X-ray baggage scanner system's test mode makes performance verification quick and straightforward. A test block is placed into the baggage x-ray scanner, and the AI-assisted software immediately gets to work displaying multiple images that confirm alignment, penetration, and imaging clarity in real time.

Once the sequence is complete, the system validates that everything is functioning correctly, giving operators full confidence before screening of patrons begins.  For the full guide please see the video and text below for more detailed explanation.

Objective: To verify the AI detection accuracy using the Athena Security test piece for the AI assisted x-ray baggage scanner. .

Testing Procedure

The test piece features four numbered arrows (1, 2, 3, and 4). You must run the piece through the x-ray baggage scanner four times, rotating it for each pass.

  1. Test Pass 1: Place the test piece on the belt with the Number 1 arrow facing up (pointing toward the x-ray  baggage scanner entry gate).

  2. Test Pass 2: Rotate the piece so the Number 2 arrow is facing up and run it through again.

  3. Test Pass 3: Rotate to the Number 3 arrow and scan.

  4. Test Pass 4: Rotate to the final Number 4 arrow and scan.

Success Criteria

  • System Ready: The system is fully operational only if the AI successfully identifies and triggers an "Object Detected" alert for all four x-ray scans.

  • System Failure: If the AI misses any of the four x-ray scans, the AI assisted X-ray baggage scanner should be re-calibrated or reported to a supervisor before use.
