Issue: Roller belt does not start when pressing "Start" on the iPad.

If the conveyor belt fails to activate from the Athena WDS software interface, perform the following operational checks in order:

AI Assisted x-ray start button on Athena Security WDS tablet

Step 1: Verify iPad & Adapter Connectivity

Before troubleshooting the AI X-ray baggage scanner hardware, ensure the iPad is properly communicating with the system and has a green dot at the top. If the Dot is red jump to step 4.

  • Inspect the Adapter: Confirm the Ethernet cable is securely clicked into the USB-C adapter and that the green link light on the adapter is active.

  • Power Cycle the Connection: Unplug the USB-C adapter from the iPad, wait 3 seconds, and plug it back in firmly.

  • Test: Attempt to press the "Start" button on the iPad again.

  • Green light: in our software is set solid green not red. If Red goto Step 4.

Step 2: Check Physical Emergency Stop (E-Stop) Buttons

The belt will not move if 1 or both of the  Emergency Stop button on the AI Assisted X-ray baggage scanner unit is engaged.

  • Reset E-Stops: Locate the red "Emergency Off" buttons on either side of the AI Assisted X-ray baggage scanner and turn.

  • Action: Firmly push the button in, then twist it clockwise until it "pops" back out into the operational position.

  • Test: Return to the iPad and press the "Start" button. If the belt still does not move, proceed to Step 3.

Step 3: Manual Keyboard Override

Determine if the issue is with the iPad software or the X-ray hardware itself.

  • Unlock the Keyboard: Access the physical keyboard/control panel on the X-ray system. or the software keyboard in the iPad app.

  • Manual Start: Attempt to start the roller belt using the dedicated "Forward" or "Start" key on the physical keyboard.

  • Diagnosis: * If the belt starts via keyboard: The issue is likely a software communication error between the iPad and the X-ray.

    • If the belt does NOT start via keyboard: There is a mechanical or power failure within the X-ray unit.  Please Reboot AI Assisted X-ray baggagesystem first then call support if after your reboot does not work.

STEP 4: Check the Status Indicator

Look at the colored dot at the top of the iPad screen. This identifies the connection state between the iPad and the X-ray system.

? IF THE STATUS DOT IS RED

Issue: Physical connection failure. The iPad cannot "see" the X-ray hardware.

  • Reset the iPad Port: Unplug the USB-C cable from the iPad, wait 3 seconds, and plug it back in firmly.

  • The 10-Second Rule: If the dot does not turn GREEN within 10 seconds, the physical link is still broken.

  • Trace the Cables: Follow the cable from the iPad down to the floor or behind the desk.

    • Check the USB-C extension and the Ethernet adapter.

    • Ensure the network cable is clicked securely into the adapter.

    • Verify Lights: Ensure the small lights on the adapter are blinking.

  • Reconnect: Secure any loose plugs. The dot should transition to green once the path is restored.
